Companies question cloudBusinesses are questioning whether cloud computing is right for them. Many firms are unsure whether to embrace cloud computing considering the level of expenditure they have already invested in their own IT infrastructure, James Urquhart noted in an article for Cnet News. He argued that in many instances businesses are waiting to see whether those firms which have already invested in cloud technology see significant cost savings before disregarding the systems which they have already paid for. Mr Urquhart added, however, that companies which do take on cloud systems could benefit from having access to as much software and hardware as they require in exchange for a small monthly fee. James Lloyd-Townshend, managing director at specialist recruitment company Hays Information Technology, recently commented that the uptake of cloud-based computing and virtualisation can offer significant cost benefits for small businesses, as it allows them access to a level of IT infrastructure which they would otherwise be unable to afford. ![]() |
