SaaS uptake 'on the up and up'The uptake of Software as a Service (SaaS) could increase rapidly in the months ahead following the technology being embraced by major hardware and software developers such as IBM, it has been argued.Brian Sommer wrote in his blog for ZDNet that when a big player like IBM starts producing its own version of a technology it means only one thing; that the company is looking to get as much of its client base using this system as the firm believes that this could be the next big thing. As a result, Mr Sommer warned companies across the UK to be ready for a phonecall bombardment from vendors offering SaaS services over the coming months. Mark Seemann, product strategy and development director at Genesis Communications, recently argued that SaaS could well be the "greatest development since the internet". He claimed that the rising uptake and entering of the mainstream for SaaS could be a watershed moment which ultimately changes the way that companies handle their data management needs forever. ![]() |
