SaaS uptake 'helps firms maintain efficiency'Software as a Service (SaaS) can help businesses improve their data management efficiency and can transform IT infrastructure, it has been claimed.Soeren von Varchmin, vice-president for SaaS and service providers international at Parallels, said that companies should look to embrace SaaS as a method for improving data handling flexibility and to ensure reliability and quality of service. He commented: "This means empowering people to administer their own services instead of them constantly having to contact the vendor for the most basic activity such as purchasing or removing SaaS applications." Mr von Varchmin added that SaaS should be a self-service medium, with companies able to tailor their service to meet their individual needs without the need for vendor intervention. According to research from global market analysis firm Gartner, UK organisations have been critical of SaaS as a business IT solution in recent months, rating the technology at 4.34 on a seven-point scale. ![]() |
