BT teams up with Microsoft to deliver Sharepoint
A new deal has been struck between BT and Microsoft to deliver online services to business customers.
The telecoms specialist and software giant have joined forces to make Microsoft applications available to BT clientele, according to iStockAnalyst.
Microsoft's SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Office Communications and Office Live Meeting make up the Dedicated Business Productivity Online Suite that will now be offered to BT business customers.
In addition, BT - a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner - is set to integrate the product suite into its 2CN network. This will enable a fully-loaded services platform, including performance management and software upgrades, among other features.
Microsoft recently revealed its launch plans for Windows Azure, a new cloud computing operating system, the Financial Times reports.
The platform that will support applications online will be available in November this year. The company will sell capacity in the online storage centres, with prices closely matching those of Amazon.com, which has already branched out into the cloud computing market.
