Hosted Sharepoint 2010 'the next big thing'

Microsoft's Hosted Sharepoint 2010 package is going to be the next big thing in business data management, it has been argued.

Bjorn Furuknap, editor and author of Understanding SharePoint Journal, said that the next generation of Sharepoint features a number of upgrades over the 2007 version, with businesses benefiting from improved functionality as a result.

He commented: "Some of the new features of SharePoint 2010 will blow the minds of seasoned SharePoint users."

Mr Furuknap added that ironically, the small changes in the core design of the system mean that Sharepoint 2010 will be even easier to use and could therefore help make the software one of Microsoft's most profitable products in the years to come.

Sharepoint360 recently revealed that Sharepoint is already one of the most popular business management packages on the market, with more than 17,000 customers and in excess of a million licences issued for the software.
