Businesses 'looking closely at virtual networks'One of the largest trends over the last year has been the uptake of virtualisation technology by firms across the UK, it has been claimed. However, it remains to be seen whether this shift is a positive step, Dale Vile, of Freeform Dynamics, wrote in a piece for the Register. Mr Vile noted so far much of the feedback from businesses which have already embraced virtualisation has been positive. However, he urged companies to be aware of the fact that the technology is relatively new and therefore they should be more wary than usual when taking on an untested system such as virtualisation. James Urquhart recently wrote in an article for Cnet News that many firms are also currently questioning the use of cloud-based data management systems, as this too is relatively untested in a real world business environment. He argued that while many firms have switched to cloud-based computing, many are still reticent to give up the return on investment which they have already placed in their own IT infrastructure. ![]() |
