Businesses advised on tiered storage solutionsCompanies have been advised that they could improve their data storage efficiency and reduce IT spending by embracing tiered storage solutions.Firms could better manage their data needs by ensuring that relevant files and that information which is accessed at the same rate is stored together, according to Ashish Nadkarni in his blog for Search Storage. In this way, the blog noted that firms could ensure data which is accessed infrequently is stored on the same servers as that which is used on a regular basis and in doing so a firm could reduce the energy consumption of its servers and improve its green credentials. David Pratt, chief operations officer of ThinkGrid, recently said that companies are now becoming more inclined to turn to third-party hosted exchange solutions as a result of the economic downturn and the perceived financial benefits which this IT infrastructure can bring. ![]() |
