Virtual networks 'provide flexibility for firms'Virtualisation can help firms attain a more flexible working environment, it has been claimed.Dale Vile, of Freeform Dynamics, wrote in a piece for Channel Register that the way that virtual servers work is to enable companies to set up virtual machines using free space. As a result, businesses can be less in need of investment in IT hardware, as free server space can be used for tasks and then reverted to free space. "The notion of pooling hardware resources and making horsepower available more flexibly on demand, then reclaiming it when the demand disappears or diminishes, has caught many people's imagination," Mr Vile noted. Julian Pletts recently wrote in a piece for itp.net that businesses should remember to take the process of virtualisation at a steady pace in order to avoid any mishaps in installation which could be costly to fix once the system is fully up and running. ![]() |
