Control fears for cloud 'are justified'Businesses have been told their fears over the lack of control for cloud networks are well founded.Martin Harris, director of product management at Platform Computing, said reservations held by firms reticent to switch to a cloud networking solution are backed up by the fact that the technology is relatively immature and untested. He commented: "It really throws the whole service delivery model askew and that's why we think most companies are waiting for more control of how you use those outsourced environments." Mr Harris added that until a more reliable control system for outsourced environments is in place, there will not be a mass uptake of cloud systems in the UK. According to research carried out by Avanade, the majority of companies are presently using a combination of cloud and internally owned systems, or a hybrid approach to data management. While the number of respondents who said they are beginning to embrace cloud computing jumped more than 320 per cent from January 2009. ![]() |
