Companies 'will turn to virtualisation'Businesses across the UK will eventually turn to virtualisation to meet their data management needs, although more investment is needed in making tools available to handle information, it has been claimed.Martin Harris, director of product management at Platform Computing, said the move towards virtualisation is gaining pace. However, it is likely to take some time until all businesses use these systems. He commented: "The majority of experienced virtualisation users confirmed that it's a starting point, but you need additional management tools to address the new layers of control and cost issues that come up." According to research carried out by Platform Computing, 72 per cent of respondents indicated that virtualisation on its own does not address their most important testing and development infrastructure challenges. And although 89 percent of respondents use virtualisation for testing and development, a significant amount of work is still being done on non-virtualised infrastructure, the report concluded. ![]() |
