Businesses 'could save energy with smart meters'

The introduction of new energy smart meters could help companies make considerable savings as well as reducing their carbon emissions, it has been claimed.

A spokesperson for Alert Me stated there is likely to be a wave of innovative new green technologies hitting the market in the near future, which will further help companies manage their energy consumption and cut wastage.

She commented: "There has been a lot of talk about what can be done in the future to reverse the effects of global warming, but where we are very focused - and think there's a lot of room for innovation - is on technology that consumers and businesses can use to make changes today,"

Alert Me is working in partnership with Google's SmartMeter technology to produce itemised energy consumption reports capable of helping households and businesses alike reduce their energy consumption by as much as 25 per cent, the firm noted.
