Windows 7 'will be attractive to businesses'Companies looking to improve their data management efficiency could be interested in Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system, it has been claimed.Simon May, author of The Rough Guide to Windows 7, said the ease of use of the software in comparison to Vista will make Windows 7 a more popular choice for firms, as will its ability to get the best out of IT infrastructure and the latest technologies - such as multi-touch screens and location awareness. He commented: "Businesses are going to appreciate easier roll outs to their enterprise with most well kept business estates - those with hardware from this century - able to run Windows 7 with only minor, cost effective upgrades." According to research carried out by NPD Group, Windows 7 software unit sales in the US were 234 per cent higher than Vista's first few days of sales. In addition, a combination of early discounts on pre-sales and a lack of promotional activity for the Ultimate version resulted in dollar sales that were 82 per cent higher than Vista. ![]() |
