Data security 'boosted with inter-company collaboration'A new study has revealed that European businesses take the issue of data security more seriously and are better able to protect confidential records than their American counterparts.Gary McGraw, chief technology officer of Cigital, said the issues raised in this research show European firms are on the right track to create security systems that are suitable for the modern world. He commented: "I think the Europeans have a thing or two to teach the Americans about privacy and you see that a lot in the security measures that the European firms are undertaking." According to a white paper by Sophos Security, the biggest concern for organisations over adopting major security protocols is cost. Furthermore, another major hurdle to widespread adoption is the need for users to be trained in the use of the software, while businesses must work to streamline their processes so the slowdown of widespread security use does not interfere with their clients. ![]() |
