Vince Mendillo, senior director of high performance computing at Microsoft, commented: "Today, we're seeing performance numbers that rival Linux from micro-kernel benchmarks to independent software vendor (ISV) benchmarks." He added that the firm has seen 30 to 40 per cent improvements in ISV performance when running these systems using running Windows HPC Server 2008 R2. The software builds on multi-core systems to provide true supercomputing efficiencies for users, according to Mr Mendillo. Elsewhere, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 was recently unveiled at the TechEd Europe 2009 conference in Germany.
