Virtualisation offers "no disadvantages"Businesses would be well advised to install virtualisation technology in the near future, as the system offers "no disadvantages", it has been claimed.IT journalist Jon Honeyball told PC Pro that many businesses are living in the past when it comes to IT infrastructure, with many servers running beyond their capacity and failing to provide the best support for firms. He argued that many networks have been "spinning for a decade and are at the very edge of their failure envelope". As such, Mr Honeyball said that when it comes to upgrading to new systems, virtualisation offers "no downsides" in comparison to many present networks. Elsewhere, Mark Hermeling, senior product manager for multicore and virtualisation at Wind River, recently noted in an article for Electronics Weekly that when implementing virtual networks, firms should be aware of underlying IT infrastructure issues. He stated that processing power can be key to getting the best from new IT solutions and virtualisation is no different in this respect. ![]() |
