Cloud computing advice for firms
Businesses have been advised on some of the best ways to make the implementation of cloud computing as smooth as possible, without breaking the bank in the process.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported firms should look to carry out scalability and reliability testing before implementing the technology, while they should also look to run fast, grid-type high-performance computing analysis to ensure best performance.
Cara Garretson of Computerworld wrote in an article for the publication: "IT departments large and small feel obligated to at least look into cloud computing's potential to save money, reduce overheads and increase efficiency and flexibility."
Elsewhere, Andy Lawrence, research director for eco-efficient IT at the 451 Group, recently told the Green IT Expo 2009 that cloud computing systems could help companies improve their green IT credentials.
He argued that greater server consolidation using the technology would lead to lower power consumption, thereby reducing a firm's carbon emissions.
