ICT sector 'set to grow'The information and communication technologies (ICT) sector in the UK is set to grow next year, in line with greater uptake of IT infrastructure by firms, it has been claimed.Andy Cordial, managing director at Origin Storage, said the storage market will drive growth in ICT, as companies are now required to keep up to seven years of records for legal reasons at all times. He commented: "The amount of electronic data that is within any corporate, today, is ten times the amount that was there even five, six years ago." According to E-commerce and information and communication technology activity 2008 - published earlier this month - in 2008, 7.5 million people had internet access at work. This represented 45.5 per cent of the employees in the surveyed businesses, an increase of nearly half a million since 2007. Furthermore, businesses with more than 1,000 employees were more than ten times as likely to use enterprise resource planning software than those with ten to 49 employees. ![]() |
