Cloud computing concerns outlinedBusinesses are at present reticent to take on cloud computing technology due to a number of concerns regarding security, new research has revealed.WebSphere Journal reported a Forrester Research survey of more than 2,200 IT executives and technology decision-makers in Canada, France, Germany, the UK and the US found privacy concerns are the number one reason for firms moving away from cloud computing. In total, 51 per cent of respondents from small to medium-sized businesses said they would be unlikely to take on the technology until these issues have been resolved. Elsewhere, research carried out by the European Commission recently revealed that one of the biggest trends of the next 12 years will be the uptake of cloud computing. It stated the market for this form of IT infrastructure will likely increase by at least 20 per cent over this period. Frederic Giron, director of consultancy firm PAC, noted cloud computing is becoming one of "the most dynamic" sectors of the IT services industry. ![]() |
