Data centres and the cloudBusinesses have been advised on how to incorporate cloud computing into their data centre infrastructure.Andy Ingram, vice-president of product marketing and business development at Juniper Networks, told Data Centre Knowledge that cloud computing represents an opportunity for firms to share applications across sites, without the need for physical server space increases. He stated: "It is now possible for IT to build out private clouds or augment their resources with public clouds that enable their data centres to benefit from this powerful computing model." Mr Ingram added the cloud can simplify data centre analytics and provide greater security in times of crisis, as files can be accessed from multiple locations easily. Elsewhere, Chenxi Wang recently wrote in a blog for Computerworld UK that cloud computing can be used for "every operation imaginable" and enables firms to improve data availability without impacting on productivity and cost. In fact, she noted efficiency could be dramatically increased by providing better access to data for employees. ![]() |
