Cloud fears 'coming from have nots'Fears over the uptake of cloud computing technology are being propagated by those firms which are yet to embrace it, it has been claimed.Martino Corbelli, marketing director at Star, said cloud computing can help companies move away from the expensive practice of software licensing and therefore companies which have taken on board this message are seeing the benefits through reduced costs. He commented: "The only fear of cloud comes from organisations that don't have a strategy for cloud computing. Those that do, have no fear of it." Mr Corbelli added, however, cloud computing is not a "panacea" to cure all a companies ills. According to information technology research and advisory company Gartner, IT organisations will spend more money on private cloud computing investments than on offerings from public cloud providers through to 2012. Therefore, many large enterprises will require private cloud services for many years, perhaps decades, until public cloud offerings mature. ![]() |
