Bizarre recovery requests revealedData recovery firm Kroll Ontrack has published a list of some of the stranger requests it has received over the last year from companies hoping to have lost data restored.PC Authority reported the top three included a brawl in a data centre which resulted in one of the server stacks being knocked over and damaged, a drive which fell off a boat and spent six months 200 ft below the water before being recovered and a criminal who stole a laptop and threw it out of a 12th storey window hoping all the incriminating evidence would be destroyed. Elsewhere, Sourabh Rana recently wrote in a blog post for Silicon India that companies with a strong disaster recovery plan in place could see competitive benefits, as it could provide a firm with bragging rights and boost its reputation. He noted firms which do not take disaster recovery seriously could face the prospect of data loss and further losing out to their competitors due to a loss of trust. ![]() |
