Disaster recovery for offsite centres outlinedBusinesses must remember a number of key issues regarding disaster recovery efforts when storing large quantities of data at offsite centres, it has been claimed.Greg Schulz, founder of the StorageIO Group, told Midmarket CIO the risks associated with offsite backup are myriad and therefore businesses must be up to speed with many factors before engaging in the recovery process. Mr Schulz stated there are a number of questions companies have to ensure the smooth running of data centre disaster recovery. These included: "Is there enough network bandwidth to move the amount of data? How much data is out there? How much is changing? What are the different regulations about moving data from remote offices?" Elsewhere, Mayank Bawa, chief executive officer and co-founder of Aster Data, recently forecast the global data storage market is likely to see increases over the next five years. He claimed the focus has now shifted to improving capacity benefits, as storage volumes have grown dramatically in recent years. ![]() |
