Central security 'a benefit of virtualisation'Businesses could benefit from more centralised data security by investing in virtualisation technology, it has been claimed.Don MacVittie wrote in a blog post for Virtualization Journal that the centralisation of security management can allow businesses to more closely monitor data access privileges and provide added business continuity security. He noted: "There shouldn't be a huge problem here and it improves both your file virtualisation infrastructure and your security management - because you're only managing in one place." Mr MacVittie added file virtualisation allows firms to implement specific file and folder security measures to lockdown data where appropriate. Elsewhere, the Punch recently reported virtualisation technology could help companies consolidate server space in the future - providing them with cost and efficiency benefits. In addition, the publication noted employee productivity could be boosted through virtualisation, as workers have greater access to data. ![]() |
