UC 'has positive impact on VoIP'The growing demand for unified communications (UC) among European firms has had a positive impact on voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services.Diane Myers, directing analyst for service provider VoIP and internet protocol multimedia subsystems at Infonetics Research, said companies can now see the benefits of switching to UC as it helps to future-proof business communications and safeguards business continuity. She commented: "The growth in enterprise adoption of VoIP on the premises will in the long term have a positive impact on carriers as businesses look to extend VoIP from the premises to the wide area." Ms Myers added positive figures for the sector are a marked contrast to the start of the year, when capital expenditure by carriers was low. According to a study by the Dell'Oro Group, the UC market grew in the third quarter of this year, with more than 70 per cent of reported vendors contributing to the market's quarterly growth. ![]() |
