Complacency 'flies in the face of security risks'
User complacency has become a major issue for businesses looking to avoid costly data loss and security issues, it has been revealed.
Calum Macleod, regional director of Tufin Technologies, said companies must revolutionise their approach to data security, as the threats facing organisations are constantly evolving and becoming more subtle.
He commented: "Users have become so accustomed to receiving security alerts telling them that certificates for applications have expired that they no longer pay attention to them."
In addition, Mr Macleod added many firms have few clues as to how many security certificates they presently have or should have.
According to the annual Cisco 2009 Annual Security Report, around one in every 600 PDF [Portable Document Format] files downloaded from the web contains malicious software.
Furthermore, there has been a rise in the number of instances of scammers tricking users via faked anti-virus websites which download malware onto their computer.
