Windows 7 updates 'critical to security for firms'Updating Windows 7 is key to business security for firms who use the new operating system, it has been stated.Tom Royal, deputy editor at Computeractive, said it is imperative that businesses ensure they install updates as quickly as they are released, as no operating system is created perfect and there will be flaws and vulnerabilities that need patching. He commented: "Security flaws in other programs on a computer - Office programs, for example - can also be exploited, so it's best to keep all software as up to date as possible." According to Microsoft, reports of the "black screen of death" have been exaggerated. It explored the problem thoroughly and surmised the security updates were not making the changes to the system that the reports said were responsible for the issues. Furthermore, Microsoft noted 'black screen' behaviour is associated with some malware families such as Daonol - a Trojan, or non-self-replicating malware. ![]() |
