Companies 'to invest in cloud security'Data security for cloud technology is likely to be a major area of investment over the next five years, it has been claimed.EMC security division president Art Coviello said in an interview with Forbes Magazine that large enterprises like Google and Amazon will be keen to improve the security of cloud offerings as they look to enter the outsourced IT infrastructure market. He commented: "You can bet that security and risk of loss of reputation will be high on the stack." In addition, he noted studies have been carried out which show cloud technology could in the near future rival data security for onsite data management systems. Elsewhere, Martino Corbelli, marketing director at Star, recently argued cloud computing can help companies move away from the expensive practice of software licensing. He added this could prompt those yet to embrace the technology to see the benefits of doing so. ![]() |
