Businesses 'to focus on cloud computing'Firms across the UK are likely to view 2010 as the year of cloud computing, as the technology is set to take off in a big way, it has been claimed.Adam Bosnian, vice-president of products, strategy and sales at Cyber-Ark, said the outsourcing of data storage through cloud providers could help to improve data management efficiency, as well as boosting server optimisation at data centres. He commented: "Almost any size of organisation can use public or private cloud resources and enjoy significantly enhanced economies of scale." Mr Bosnian added Software-as-a-Service is also likely to prove popular over the upcoming 12 months. According to research by technology solutions provider Logicalis, cloud computing was found to be the second most popular term for 2010, with web 22.0 taking the top spot. Furthermore, Virtual Desktops took the number three position, as deployment of them lowers costs, reduces the time needed to manage individual desktops and increases security. ![]() |
