Firms advised on disaster recoveryCompanies have been advised about three essential tasks they should carry out in order to avoid costly disaster recovery efforts for lost data.Tech Republic reported profiling data use, identifying information owners and frequently revoking permissions are all useful methods for staying on top of data management efficiency. Businesses could improve productivity by up to 80 per cent by carrying out these practices, the online publication asserted. Meanwhile, the likelihood that a serious security breach or data loss incident will occur is greatly reduced. Elsewhere, the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) recently warned that four-fifths of all businesses that are impacted by a nationwide crisis are forced to close within 18 months of the event. It noted that as a result, more efforts should now be being made by small firms in particular to put in place disaster recovery plans to hopefully avoid this situation. Biba technical services manager Steve Foulsham commented: "There have been slight improvements since our previous research in 2006 but we still have concerns that businesses are still not adequately protected." ![]() |
