Businesses 'investing in private clouds'Many UK firms are investing in private cloud data storage systems, it has been revealed.Search Storage reported server consolidation brought about by the uptake of cloud technology has meant many businesses have been able to reduce costs, while at the same time improving operational flexibility. Dennis Jansson, chief security officer at Lantmannen, commented: "We define it as a way to consolidate services ... We've crushed costs while maintaining high performance." He added businesses which need to expand their storage capacity can simply create additional nodes within the cloud network, meaning systems can be expanded free of charge, without the need for investment in more server stock. Elsewhere, Rob Lovell, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, recently said the ability of cloud systems to streamline data management efficiencies will make the technology on of the most sought after IT infrastructure upgrades of the coming year.
