SMBs advised on data storageSmall to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) could benefit by introducing cloud data storage methods to their IT infrastructure, it has been asserted. The technology offers increased capacity, as well as greater data management flexibility, as users are able to handle information from multiple sites simultaneously, according to Search Storage. Furthermore, data protection measures such as duplication of files are likely to be popular this year, as many cloud storage providers offer this service alongside their cloud systems. Elsewhere, Henry Newman wrote in a blog for Enterprise Storage Forum that Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) technology could allow firms to reduce their reliance on cabling and make their IT infrastructure more flexible as a result. He noted: "It's been hard to miss all the announcements from server, storage and networking vendors about FCoE products and plans." Mr Newman added FCoE could also improve data availability for backups, thereby improving disaster recoverability for firms. ![]() |
