VoIP 'helps firms communicate for less'Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) could be the solution to cost-cutting issues facing many businesses, it has been claimed.George Van Horn, senior analyst at industry research firm IBISWorld, said the fact the location of the call is not taken into account when calls are charged means international and business communications can often be significantly cheaper when using VoIP in comparison to traditional landlines. He commented: "VoIP offers a cheaper alternative to traditional wireline services, which is why subscriber and revenue growth for this industry has been so strong." Mr Van Horn added many companies have already chosen to embrace this form of online communication. Elsewhere, IBISWorld recently published research predicting the technology and innovation industries that have thrived in the past ten years are generally expected to continue their run through to 2019. Furthermore, it noted that revenue from VoIP has shown a 179,036 per cent growth over the last ten years. ![]() |
