Businesses 'should boost ERP spending'Enterprise resource planning (ERP) has an impact on all areas of a business and as such, companies should remember to invest in this key area, it has been noted.Michael Dean, director of advisory services at the National Computing Centre (NCC), said firms that are hoping for a recovery in the months ahead should look to boost the amount they spend on ERP, as in this way they can stay one step ahead of their competitors. He commented: "ERP is complex because it can impact every part of an organisation ... Implementation will never be easy." Mr Dean added ensuring efficiency is one of the key benefits of effective ERP. Elsewhere, Microsoft recently introduced a new ERP tool - Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail. The data management solution offers retailers integration across point of sale, store management, supply chain, merchandising and financials to address business productivity while enhancing customer service, the company noted. ![]() |
