More firms 'to take on virtualisation'
A growing number of businesses are likely to take up the call for virtualisation technology as the year progresses, it has been claimed.
Computer World reported the need to improve data management efficiency without breaking the bank will make virtualisation an attractive solution for many firms in 2010.
"We have companies coming out of the block in Q1 with 30 people for this project, 40 for that; there's a lot of pent-up demand coming to fruition," commented Ellis Blevins, a division director for recruiting giant Robert Half Technology.
He added demand for virtualisation could peak once a sustained recovery takes hold in the UK.
Elsewhere, law firm Burgess Salmon recently announced it had embraced virtualisation and as a result has been able to reduce its electrical consumption by £30,000 per annum by consolidating its IT infrastructure.
The company was aided by Commercial IT Services, with the system being used to improve data access, server capacity and also to improve its data recovery abilities.
