Proper planning 'helps cut virtualisation costs'
Carrying out effective planning before implementing a new virtualisation system could help businesses make considerable savings, it has been claimed.
Robert Jacques wrote in his blog for Financial Director that despite the fact the technology has been around for more than 40 years, the present hype surrounding it has been caused by the fact other technologies have now made virtualisation a viable and cost-effective networking solution.
"There are multiple benefits from embracing this technology, the most obvious and compelling of which is a potentially jaw-dropping reduction in data centre costs," commented Mr Jacques.
In order to get the most out of the technology, however, he claimed time should be spent working out what the best use of present IT infrastructure is within a virtualised environment.
Elsewhere, Computer World recently reported more businesses are planning to switch to virtual networks over the coming months.
The publication claimed the technology's ability to combine improved data management efficiency, while also providing opportunities for cost savings makes it the ideal solution for many firms.
