Data protection 'doing well in UK firms'UK businesses are ahead of their international counterparts in terms of data protection, a new report has revealed.Computer Weekly reported a new study by Ernst & Young revealed 81 per cent of UK firms have implemented controls to protect personal data, compared to the global average of 59 per cent. However, the UK is falling behind its competitors in terms of creating inventories of information assets. "This raises a warning flag because despite the overall rosy picture, relatively few organisations are drawing up lists of their information assets," said Seamus Reilly, a director in the IT risk and assurance department at Ernst & Young. Elsewhere, Eweek recently reported firms could boost their data security by investing in continuous data protection (CDP). Furthermore, the publication noted CDP systems do not have to break the bank and could provide a welcome boost to data recovery in times of crisis. ![]() |
