Is the cloud as secure as it could be?
Many businesses are now asking themselves whether cloud computing technology is as secure as it could be and as a result, some are shying away from it.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported this is becoming a growing concern for many firms, but their apprehensions are unfounded.
In order to achieve tight data security, the publication claimed care should be taken when setting up the IT infrastructure to ensure no gaps in firewalls are left that could jeopardise future safety.
"You should not create a new security policy for the cloud, but instead extend your existing security policies to accommodate this additional platform," Tim Brown of CIO.com noted.
Elsewhere, Search Storage recently reported many UK firms are investing in private cloud data storage systems.
The publication noted server consolidation brought about by the uptake of cloud technology has meant many businesses have been able to reduce costs, while at the same time improving operational flexibility.
