Virtualisation 'requires better backup'Many businesses have turned to virtualisation in recent months and this has led to the need for a greater focus on the creation of improved data security for the technology, it has been claimed.Arthur Cole wrote in his blog for IT Business Edge that virtual networks are by their nature insecure, as they allow extreme access to data and files across multiple sites and areas. However, a focus on data security will now be needed to ensure any data loss or breach incidents do not result in excessive downtime of data loss for firms. He said: "The time to put recovery mechanisms in place is before they are truly needed, not after, and as the enterprise continues to go virtual, that time is quickly approaching." Elsewhere, Maxwell Cooter recently claimed in his blog for Tech World that many companies are not finding the switch to virtualisation systems as straightforward as they had expected. In fact, he claimed some firms are now rethinking whether virtualisation might be the best route for them. ![]() |
