Cloud and virtualisation 'are compatible'
Businesses across the UK can rest assured that cloud computing and virtualisation systems can work hand in hand in a firm's IT infrastructure, it has been stated.
Lori MacVittie wrote in a post for ZD Net that some companies have been unwilling to invest in these technologies for fear of conflicts.
However, firms have been told this would not be the case and each of the systems could provide them with significant cost and productivity benefits.
She noted: "Virtual machine efficiency is important because it affects virtual machine density - that is, the number of virtual machines that can effectively be running on a given hardware platform."
Elsewhere, Dana Gardner, principal analyst at Interarbor Solutions, said in her blog for IT Director that many firms are at present only utilising up to 20 per cent of server space and as such, could be prime candidates for storage virtualisation in order to boost this figure.
She claimed data storage virtualisation could offer significant benefits to businesses across the UK in terms of realising the full potential of their server stock.
