Mozilla malware 'highlights online dangers'
An incident concerning Mozilla whereby two of its browser add-ons were found to contain malicious code has served to highlight the dangers posed to firms online, it has been claimed.
Tom Kelchner, research centre manager at Sunbelt Software, said businesses should constantly update their antivirus systems, as new strains of viruses are being produced all the time, meaning data security should never be an issue that is far from the minds of IT professionals.
He commented: "As new products and mechanisms evolve on the internet, there always will be new ways for the dark side to try to victimise people."
According to an official post on the Mozilla blog, version 4.0 of Sothink Web Video Downloader and all versions of Master Filer contained separate trojan codes aimed at Windows users.
To remove the malware, the firm noted users need to employ an antivirus program to successfully purge their systems of the trojan.
