Cost savings 'a benefit of the cloud'Businesses are turning to cloud computing due to the impact of cost savings which the technology can have on overall IT budgets, it has been claimed.Speaking at Westminster eForum Keynote Seminar: Cloud computing, Simone Brunozzi, web services evangelist for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Amazon, said the financial argument has persuaded many firms to embrace cloud computing in recent months, rather than any technological revolution which has taken place. He commented: "Most companies today are adopting cloud computing because it makes economic sense and especially in this economic downturn, it's particularly important to say we can save money here." Mr Brunozzi added as cost cutting has become a priority, so too has the uptake of cloud. According to holistic email management company Mimecast, the top three industries that are presently adopting cloud systems are the technology sector (53 per cent of firms), financial services (40 per cent) and legal (37 per cent). ![]() |
