Essays to explain data governanceA new essay-writing competition is being created to educate MPs on the dangers of poor IT governance, it has been revealed.Philip Virgo wrote in a blog post for Computer Weekly that the upcoming general election provides the perfect opportunity to inform MPs about their data security responsibilities and will be used to bring data recovery and best practice to the fore. He noted: "The task is not just to explain why the subject is both important and difficult and what needs to be done, but to explain it to the class of 2010, the new intake of MPs who will bring about the biggest change in British politics since 1945." Elsewhere, Rob Lovell, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid, recently said the penny has dropped for many businesses over the benefits of cloud computing in boosting their data recovery abilities and improving IT infrastructure flexibility. He noted the uptake of cloud computing by well-known brands like Google and Amazon has really raised the status of the technology. ![]() |
