Making the case for cloud computingBusinesses have been advised that cloud computing technology could offer significant benefits in terms of data accessibility and IT infrastructure flexibility, it has been claimed.CIO reported chief information officers should become more aware of the cloud, as it one of the buzzwords of 2010 and is likely to be one of the success stories of the year in terms of new data management facilities. Neil Ward-Dutton of MWD commented: "In 2010, almost every vendor will offer a cloud product. It is vital that [chief information officers] understand how cloud fits your IT portfolio". Elsewhere, Lori MacVittie recently wrote in a post for ZD Net that businesses across the UK can rest assured that cloud computing and virtualisation systems can work hand in hand in a firm's IT infrastructure. He noted some companies have been unwilling to invest in these technologies for fear of conflicts. However, firms have been told this would not be the case and each of the systems could provide them with significant cost and productivity benefits. ![]() |
