Cloud 'makes data security more difficult'
Research published by Global Data in its State of Enterprise Security Survey has revealed a third of IT security professionals feel cloud computing can make setting up data security provisions more difficult.
In response to the question does cloud computing make it "easier or harder to do your job with regards to network security," a third claimed it did, while a further third said it made little difference.
"Every day we see new viruses, new spyware, new backdoors. It is beyond crazy," an unnamed IT director told Network World.
Furthermore, the report showed the median annual budget for data security at firms is set to rise by 11 per cent in 2010 to $600,000 (£387,000).
Elsewhere, Steve Reynolds, chairman of the Mobile Data Association, recently said more businesses look set to embrace cloud-based data management solutions over the years ahead.
He noted improved scalability and larger data storage capacity have made cloud computing solutions the "natural progression" for IT infrastructure in the UK.
