SMBs 'overlook disaster recovery'Many small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across the UK are overlooking disaster recovery preparations, it has been claimed.Rob Lovell, chief executive officer of ThinkGrid, said a lot of SMBs misguidedly think setting up disaster recovery planning is an expensive process, when in fact it can be achieved cheaply and quickly and once in place, can provide invaluable data and business continuity protection. He commented: "It is something that is definitely overlooked and probably for the wrong reasons - probably because people think it's going to be expensive or very complicated." According to Easynet Connect, the proportion of firms with longer-term plans to deploy cloud computing within five years has risen from 47 per cent in 2008 to 73 per cent in 2009. In addition, in 2008, 35 per cent of small businesses saw cloud computing as helping enable home working, while now 43 per cent consider this to be true. ![]() |
