Businesses 'to tackle data loss challenge'Companies must work over the coming years to tackle the growing problem of data loss, it has been claimed.Vishal Dhupar, managing director of Symantec India, told Computer Reseller News that as data volumes continue to increase, the prospect of server breakdowns or business downtime will only get bigger, as greater quantities of data are lost. He commented: "Customers still have critical information that needs to be secured, but with the amount of information doubling every two years, so [does] the need for comprehensive solutions." Mr Dhupar added data storage technology which ensures server stock is running efficiently - such as deduplication systems - could have a positive effect on business continuity in the future. Elsewhere, Tom Kelchner, research centre manager at Sunbelt Software, recently advised businesses to ensure they have effective data recovery systems in place due to a growth in malware that is talking place online. ![]() |
