SMBs 'to profit from the cloud'
Small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) could be set to profit from the uptake of cloud computing technology, it has been claimed. Phil Worms wrote in an article for Cloud Computing Journal that the cloud technology can enable firms to gain access to levels of IT infrastructure that were previously out of their price range, meaning SMBs in particular could benefit from its use. He noted: "Cloud enables SMBs to get access to fully fledged IT services. The key word in this statement being 'services' - SMBs need services not technology." Elsewhere, Adrian Bridgewater noted in a recent blog post for ZD Net that for more companies to embrace cloud technology, service providers need to begin providing greater provisioning. He claimed many firms remain dubious about the benefits of cloud computing and it is therefore up to service providers to make the deal sweeter and deliver a product that companies cannot do without.
