More IT professionals 'understanding the cloud'Research carried out by NetApp has revealed more IT professionals claim they understand cloud computing.IT News Online reported the study showed 74 per cent of respondents now feel they have a grasp of the technology, with 22 per cent finding the cost saving elements of the cloud most appealing and 23 per cent saying it is its pay-as-you-go model. Dave Allen, UK managing director at NetApp, commented: "As server and storage virtualisation gains speed and momentum over 2010, we can expect to see more businesses also virtualise the network and move further towards a unified computing model." Elsewhere, a recent survey by Microsoft revealed that a fifth (20.9 per cent) of small to medium-sized enterprises are now using cloud computing. It showed the technology's cost saving reputation and additional benefits of greater flexibility, data access and improved disaster recoverability are making it a popular choice with firms. ![]() |
