IP PBX 'superior to VoIP'Internet protocol private branch exchange (IP PBX) could be a more popular business communications solution than Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), it has been claimed.David Lemelin, practice leader and senior analyst at In-Stat, said IP PBX is the business-grade equivalent of VoIP and as such, it offers better quality and value than its consumer-led counterpart. He commented: "We expect the momentum we have seen over the last several years to recover within the next year. Convergence with unified communications capabilities and mobile integration are also compelling factors driving [IP PBX] adoption." Mr Lemelin added, however, that VoIP adoption is expected to double by 2013 as the technology has benefited from greater publicity to date. According to business strategy and market intelligence source Global Industry Analysts, strong interest in IP PBX as a business innovation, strategic enabler of revenue generation and cost savings is reviving an otherwise stagnant telecommunication industry. ![]() |
