VoIP 'becoming a business must have'Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) could soon become the communications method of choice for businesses due to the many benefits the technology offers, it has been claimed.Big Newz reported VoIP provides cost savings due to the fact it uses the internet to send messages and therefore does not take into account location when charging. Furthermore, the technology provides free voice conferencing tools making it easier for professionals to communicate with one another. The publication noted: "VoIP technology is a flexible communication solution that allows you to chat with co-workers and clients around the world without having to spend a fortune on a pricey telecommunications system." Elsewhere, David Lemelin, practice leader and senior analyst at In-Stat, recently said there are a range of VoIP solutions currently available, including instant messaging systems, as well as in-house or third party solutions. He noted firms are seeing the benefits of VoIP due to its affinity for reducing costs and its ability to improve communications flexibility for people working outside the office. ![]() |
